Taxonomy
Pachydiscus averilli was named by Anderson (1958). Its type specimen is CAS 61631.01, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is North bank of Sacramento River at Redding, which is in a Turonian marine siliciclastic in California.
It was recombined as Tragodesmoceras averilli by Matsumoto (1959).
