Taxonomy
Palaeoniscus rohani was named by Heckel and Kner (1861). Its type specimen is NMP M 849, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Amblypterus rohani by Traquair (1877); it was misspelled as Amblypterus rohoni by Lemke and Weiler (1942); it was recombined as Paramblypterus rohani by Heyler (1969).

Synonyms
  • Palaeoniscus luridus was named by Heckel and Kner (1861).

    It was recombined as Amblypterus luridus by Fritsch (1895); it was recombined as Paramblypterus luridus by Štamberg (1976) and Dietze (2000); it was synonymized subjectively with Paramblypterus rohani by Štamberg (2013), Schultze et al. (2021).
