Acrolepis gigas

Elonichthyiformes - Acrolepididae

Taxonomy
Amblypterus gigas was named by Frič (1877) [Lectotype designated by Štamberg 1991]. Its type specimen is NMP M 125, a partial skeleton (Nearly complete fish with poorly preserved anal and caudal fins), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Žilov, which is in a Stephanian B lacustrine horizon in the Slaný Formation of the Czech Republic.

It was recombined as Elonichthys gigas by Woodward (1891); it was recombined as Acrolepis gigas by Fritsch (1895).
