Taxonomy
Platysella descusi was named by Heyler and Poplin (1983). Its type specimen is MMM D.222, a partial skeleton (Specimen lacking anterior snout and posterior caudal fin), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Montceau-les-Mines, Saone et Loire, which is in a Stephanian B/Stephanian C terrestrial horizon in France.
