Taxonomy
Chiton solaris was named by Vendrasco et al. (2022). It is extant. Its type specimen is LACMIP 43085.50, a valve (intermediate vavle). Its type locality is Super Creek "Imperial" Formation, which is in a Messinian marine siltstone in the "Imperial" Formation of California.
