Taxonomy
Cephalophytarion majesticum was named by Allison (1989). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is CA 554 at 32.6x20.2 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sample CA554, upper Tindir Creek, which is in a Tonian deep subtidal ramp lime mudstone in Canada.
It was recombined as Oscillatoriopsis majesticum by Sergeev et al. (1995).
