Taxonomy

Gloeodiniopsis lamellosa was named by Schopf (1968). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Harvard Univ. 58502; stage coordinates 19.1 x 96.6 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is North of Ross River Tourist Camp, which is in a Tonian peritidal chert in the Bitter Springs Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Gloeodiniopsis.

Synonyms

Eozygion minutum was named by Schopf and Blacic (1971). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Harvard Univ. 58624, TBS-22-1-A, coordinates 26.9/106.3 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ellery Creek, which is in a Tonian peritidal chert in the Bitter Springs Formation of Australia.

It was synonymized subjectively with Gloeodiniopsis lamellosa by Knoll and Golubic (1979) and Sergeev (1994).
Bigeminococcus lamellosus was named by Schopf and Blacic (1971). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Harvard Univ. 58622, TBS-22-1-C, coordinates 41.0/113.5 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ellery Creek, which is in a Tonian peritidal chert in the Bitter Springs Formation of Australia.

Its type locality is Ellery Creek, which is in a Tonian peritidal chert in the Bitter Springs Formation of Australia.

It was synonymized subjectively with Gloeodiniopsis lamellosa by Knoll and Golubic (1979) and Sergeev (1994).
Gloeodiniopsis magna was named by Nyberg and Schopf (1984). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is R3mn-st-2E, stage coordinates 49.7X/19.8Y and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zilim River, upstream from Bakeyevo, which is in a Tonian peritidal limestone in the Min'yar Formation of the Russian Federation.

It was synonymized subjectively with Gloeodiniopsis lamellosa by Sergeev (1994).
