Palaeopleurocapsa wopfnerii
Taxonomy
Palaeopleurocapsa wopfnerii was named by Knoll et al. (1975). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Harvard Univ. 60218, SKIL 58305-C, coordinates 41.7x88.9 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is East-northeast of Port Augusta, which is in a Tonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal dolomite in the Skillogalee Dolomite Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Palaeopleurocapsa.
