Taxonomy
Tragos acutemarginatum was named by Klipstein (1845). It is the type species of Pilosphecion.

It was synonymized subjectively with Epitheles hieroglypha by Laube (1865); it was recombined as Pilosphecion acutemarginatum by Pomel (1872).
