Diplograptus bifurcus was named by Mu (1974). Its type specimen is NIGP 21430 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Rickardsograptus bifurcus by Storch and Schönlaub (2012); it was recombined as Neodiplograptus bifurcus by Loydell et al. (2019); it was recombined as Korenograptus bifurcus by Saparin and Ismail (2023).
