Taxonomy
Ammonites pichleri was named by Oppel (1863). Its type specimen is SNSB-BSPG AS I 1126 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Richeiceras pichleri by Jeannet (1951); it was recombined as Taramelliceras (Proscaphites) pichleri by Schlegelmilch (1994); it was recombined as Taramelliceras (Richeiceras) pichleri by QuƩreilhac (2009).
