Gonatodus molyneuxi was named by Traquair (1888). It is not extant. Its type specimen is NHMUK P.7973, 7976, part and counterpart, a skeleton (Mostly complete fish, named in Gardiner 1967).
It was recombined as Drydenius molyneuxi by Gardiner (1967).
