Taxonomy
Anomites cuspidatus was named by Martin (1796).

It was recombined as Spirifer cuspidatus by Sowerby (1816) and Meek (1877); it was recombined as Delthyris cuspidatus by Kieferst (1824); it was recombined as Cyrtia cuspidata by McCoy (1855); it was recombined as Syringothyris cuspidata by Walcott (1884).
