Taxonomy
Gervillaria (Baryvellia) ponderosa was named by Waller and Stanley (2005). Its type specimen is USNM 526437 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is E2, South Canyon, New Pass Range, Nevada, which is in a Longobardian shallow subtidal limestone in Nevada. It is the type species of Gervillaria (Baryvellia).
