Taxonomy
Ammonites barnstoni was named by Meek (1859). Its type specimen is GSC 4811, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Valley of Mackenzie River, which is in a Callovian marine siliciclastic in Canada.
It was recombined as Cadoceras barnstoni by Frebold (1964); it was recombined as Cadoceras (Catacadoceras) barnstoni by Meledina (1999); it was recombined as Catacadoceras barnstoni by Shamonin et al. (2023).
