Pyritocephalus sculptus
Taxonomy
Palaeoniscus sculptus was named by Frič (1875). It is not extant. Its type specimen is NMP M 1201, a skeleton. Its type locality is Styl Krantz, Cape Colony, BMNH fish, which is in a Wuchiapingian lacustrine shale in South Africa. It is the type species of Pyritocephalus.
It was recombined as Pyritocephalus sculptus by Fritsch (1894).
