Taxonomy
Jeanrogericeras sornayi was named by Porthault and Thomel (1966) [Thomel in Porthault, Thomel & Villoutreys]. It is the type species of Thomelites.

It was recombined as Thomelites sornayi by Wright et al. (1996).
