The epithet archangelskyi honors the distinguished Argentinean paleobotanist and palynologist Dr. Sergio Archangelsky.

Taxonomy
Parviprojectus archangelskyi was named by De Benedetti et al. (2023). Its type specimen is MPEF-PA 967, a microspore, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Paleoazolla type locality, Cerro Buitre, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the La Colonia Formation of Argentina.

F. De Benedetti et al. 2023Pollen grain isopolar, tricolpate, prolate ellipsoidal, equatorial projections lingulate. Exine ca. 1.0–1.5 μm thick, two layered, sexine thicker than nexine. Sexine semitectate striate/striatereticulate. Muri spindle shaped, aligned latitudinally along colpi edges, meridionally along the central part of mesocolpia, and concentrically around the equatorial projections.
