Taxonomy
Exelissa crassicostata was named by Cataldo (2017). Its type specimen is CPBA 21293.6, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bajada Vieja (La Tosca Member, Huitrin Formation), which is in a Barremian shallow subtidal limestone/wackestone in the Huitrin Formation of Argentina.
