Cryptobicuspidon pachysymphysealis

Taxonomy
Cryptobicuspidon pachysymphysealis was named by de Carvalho and Santucci (2023). Its type specimen is FUP-PV-000018, a mandible (Mid- and anterior portions of both dentaries bearing teeth, with the symphyseal articulation preserved), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Campo Azul (lacustrine beds), which is in a Barremian/Aptian lacustrine sandstone in the Quiricó Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Cryptobicuspidon.

Small-sized polyglyphanodontine lizard bearing the following set of characteristics: smaller and unicuspid anteriormost teeth inclined forward; mid-posterior teeth transversally wide at the basal portion of the crown with two cusps, being one labial and other lingual; first (anteriormost) mental foramen facing anteriorly and the remaining ones forming a line in the lateral portion of the dentary; anterior symphyseal process extending from the anterior margin of the symphysis tapering to a point; symphysis bearing an oval-shaped and thick process; V-shaped mandible with dentary rami forming an angle slightly greater than 45º.
