Arcoptera wagneriana was named by Heilprin (1887) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Pleistocene; Florida.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Arca wagneriana by Dall (1898), DuBar (1958) and Vermeij and Amano (2021).
