Solenomya (Janeia) trapezoides was named by Meek (1874) [Solenomya sp. Meek & Worthen 1873. pl. 27 f. 1a-b]. Its type specimen is USNM 36315, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Solenomya trapezoides by Beede and Rogers (1899), Beede (1900), Bailey (2011); it was recombined as Solemya trapezoides by Hoare (1961), Hoare (1961), Kues et al. (2002); it was recombined as Acharax (Nacrosolemya) trapezoides by Bailey (2021).
