Taxonomy
Asterias acuminatus was named by Simonovitsch (1871). Its type specimen is Unknown and is not a trace fossil.

It was corrected as Asterias acuminata by Schöndorf (1909), Schöndorf (1909); it was recombined as Mesopalaeaster acuminatus by Schuchert (1915); it was recombined as Salteraster acuminatus by Müller and Hahn (2022).
