Torquirhynchia was named by Childs (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: J Call-l J Tith-l Sepkoski's reference number: 59,538].

It was assigned to Cyclothyridinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
