Leiorhynchus miriam was named by Johnson (1971) [Leiorhynchus sp. A Merriam 1940, Pl. 8, figs. 18, 19.]. Its type specimen is USNM 157376 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Properotundirostrum miriam by Sartenaer (1986).
