Taxonomy
Dentalium (Paleodentalium) kansasense was named by Gentile (1974). Its type specimen is (UMKC MS 1, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Paleodentalium kansasense by Reynolds and Steiner (2008).
