Taxonomy
Palaeoglossa gibbosa was named by Willard (1928). Its type specimen is M.C.Z. 8587 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 2 miles northwest of Lexington, which is in a Chazyan carbonate limestone in the Murat Formation of Virginia. It is the type species of Pseudobolus.
It was recombined as Pseudobolus gibbosus by Cooper (1956).
