Taxonomy
Orbicula affinis was named by M'Coy (1847). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dunvegan (W.B. Clarke coll), which is in an Asbian marine siliciclastic in the Flagstaff Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Orbiculoidea affinis by Wagner (2023).
