Taxonomy
Tectocyclus herbigi was named by Becker (2023). Its type specimen is GMM B6C.60.1, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Jebel Begaa, which is in a Chadian marine shale in the Merdani Formation of Morocco. It is the type species of Tectocyclus.
