Fomitchella acinaciformis was named by Missarzhevsky (1977). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 314, right bank of the Fomich River, which is in a Tommotian shallow subtidal limestone in the Medvezhya Formation of the Russian Federation.
