Taxonomy
Astarte subtextilis was named by Hall (1843). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is six miles north-east of Portland Harbor, which is in a Frasnian/Famennian marine mudstone/siltstone in the Dunkirk Formation of New York.
It was recombined as Cardiomorpha subtextilis by Hall (1870); it was recombined as Euthydesma subtextile by Hall (1885).
