Pericyclus rotuliformis was named by Crick (1899). It is the type species of Rotopericyclus.
It was recombined as Pericyclus (Rotopericyclus) rotuliformis by Arkell et al. (1957); it was recombined as Rotopericyclus rotuliformis by Turner (1948), Furnish et al. (2009).
