Taxonomy
Simoniteuthis michaelyi was named by Fuchs et al. (2024). Its type specimen is MNHNL TI024 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Edward Steichen industrial area, Bascharage, which is in a Falciferum marine shale in Luxembourg. It is the type species of Simoniteuthis.
