Clavulina communis nodulosa was named by Cushman (1922). It is extant.

It was recombined as Listerella nodulosa by Cushman (1936); it was recombined as Schenckiella nodulosa by Cushman and Todd (1945); it was recombined as Martinottiella nodulosa by Cushman (1947); it was recombined as Multifidella nodulosa by Loeblich and Tappan (1961).
