M. Bilotta 2010 | Compressed platycone form; very evolute inner whorls with subrounded section and moderately involute outer whorls, with sub-elliptic higher than wide section. The whorl overlapping is between 1/5 and 1/7, with higher values at small diameter. Rounded and not much elevated ventral area; poorly sloping umbilical margin. The ornamentation is clearly visible only when the test is preserved: it consists in lateral sinuous striae, which cross the venter, where they fade and form a weak chevron; sometimes this gives the ventral area a gently corrugated aspect. On the body chamber these striae bundle, forming thin hemi-ribs, which end in cuneiform tuberclespines, slightly shifted inward compared to the ventro-lateral
edge and arranged on a staggered way on the two flanks. The innermost whorls (usually between a diameter of about 2 to 5 mm, but sometimes up to 8 mm) show weak reliefs alternating with depressions, which could be mistaken for tubercles. At this stage, when the test is not preserved, some not very marked constriction can be observed, involving the outermost part of the flank and the ventral area of the phragmocone. Pseudoceratitic suture, with unfrilled saddles and denticulate lobes; moderately spaced septa. The E lobe, slightly longer than L and U2, has a transversal cut in its middle saddle, and sometimes can be placed on a flank, being shifted from the venter; L is rather wide, and usually shows three terminal denticles; U2 slightly shorter than L, especially at a small diameter; tooth-like U3; LS1 saddle more advanced and broader than ES. |
