Taxonomy
Prograyiceras crassum was named by Collignon (1959). Its type specimen is UBGD.010335 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Second Butte témoin de Miary (Ankazoabo), which is in an Oxfordian marine marl/sandstone in Madagascar.
It was recombined as Paryphoceras crassum by Pandey et al. (2013).
