Ammonites inflatus circumspinosus was named by Quenstedt (1857). It is not extant. It is the type subspecies of Physodoceras.
It was recombined as Ammonites circumspinosus by Quenstedt (1856) and Oppel (1863); it was recombined as Physodoceras circumspinosum by Hyatt (1900); it was recombined as Aspidoceras (Physodoceras) circumspinosum by Atrops and Benest (1984).
