Tribrachidium gehlingi was named by Botha and García-Bellido (2024). Its type specimen is SAMA P59794 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Boomerang Hill, which is in an Ediacaran marine sandstone in the Rawnsley Quartzite Formation of Australia.
