Taxonomy
Discinisca messii was named by Pérez et al. (2023). Its type specimen is CNP-PIIc 641, a valve (Articulated dorsal and ventral valves ), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Isla Escondida, which is in a Miocene offshore sandstone in the Gaiman Formation of Argentina.

D. E. Pérez et al. 2023Species of Discinisca with large dorsal valve (more than 20 mm in length), slightly elongated in the antero-posterior direction and subcircular to circular outline
in dorsal view, and apex placed near to posterior margin. The external sculpture is formed by lamellose and regularly narrow concentric bands with a rounded triangular profile in transversal section. Ventral valve sculptured by regularly concentric bands with an acute triangular profile in transversal section, inclined from the centre towards margins.
