Amycla chrysalloidea was named by Carpenter (1863). It is extant.

It was recombined as Columbella chrysalloidea by Tryon (1883); it was recombined as Astyris chrysalloidea by Keep (1888); it was recombined as Columbella (Aesopus) chrysalloidea by Williamson (1892), Arnold (1903); it was recombined as Aesopus chrysalloideus by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Aesopus chrysalloides by Dall (1921), Hendy (2021).
