Taxonomy
Ammonites aeropus was named by d'Orbigny (1850). It is not extant. Its type specimen is MNHN.F.R02268.

It was recombined as Sphaeroceras aeropus by Petitclerc (1915); it was recombined as Bomburites aeropus by Galácz (1980).
