Taxonomy
Ammonites gastaldianus was named by d'Orbigny (1850). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.R07523 and is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Avramidiscus.

It was recombined as Avramidiscus gastaldianus by Vasicek (2006).
