Ammonites acutocarinatum was named by Shumard (1853). It is not extant. Its type specimen is USNM.

It was recombined as Venezoliceras acutocarinatum by Young (1966).

  • Ammonites trinitense was named by Gabb (1876). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BMNH C.12665.

    It was recombined as Oxytropidoceras trinitense by Adkins (1928); it was synonymized subjectively with Ammonites acutocarinatum by Young (1966).
