Inoceramus nahwisi mobeliensis was named by McLearn (1943) [Inoceramus nahwisi var. mobeliensis ]. Its type specimen is GSC 8945 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Posidonomya nahwisi mobeliensis by McLearn (1945); it was recombined as Posidonia nahwisi mobeliensis by Jelezky (1964); it was recombined as Posidonioceramus moberliensis by Walaszczyk and Cobban (2016).
