Taxonomy
Monstrocrinus securifer was named by Schmidt (1941). It is not extant. Its type locality is former brick factory in the Osterbachtal, which is in an Emsian coastal sandstone in the Orthocrinus Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Monstrocrinus.
