Taxonomy
Melanedaphodon hovaneci was named by Mann et al. (2023). It is not extant. Its type specimen is CM 93778, a partial skull. Its type locality is Linton, which is in a Westphalian D mire/swamp coal in Ohio. It is the type species of Melanedaphodon.
