Taxonomy
Luthieria diminuta was named by Lavié et al. (2021). Its type specimen is INGEO-IMP 10001, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quebrada La Brecha Section, LCR4, which is in a Darriwilian carbonate grainstone in the San Juan Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Luthieria.
