Taxonomy
Ammonites cornuelianus was named by d'Orbigny (1840). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cheloniceras cornuelianus by Renz (1982); it was recombined as Cheloniceras (Cheloniceras) cornuelianum by Szives (2007); it was recombined as Cheloniceras cornuelianum by Lehmann and Aly (2024).
