Taxonomy
Belemnites canaliculatus was named by Schlotheim (1820).

It was recombined as Belemnopsis (Pachybelemnopsis) canaliculatus by Riegraf (1980); it was recombined as Pachybelemnopsis canaliculatus by Riegraf (2000).
