Thinocrinus akanthos
The spinous tegmen plates that extend from the inter-
rays of this species are unlike any known in Thinocrinus. Although
a complete specimen is not known, the spiny plates are associated
only with the smooth plated Thinocrinus that has radials with
thickened edges and, therefore, is not associated with T. probolos.
The low cone shape of the calyx, smooth plates, and lack of a
discontinuous ridge at the base distinguish this new species of
Thinocrinus even when the unique spiny plates are not articulated
